How to Reverse Multiple Sclerosis

Natural Protocols to Beat MS

We often use the word “disease” to denote a “syndrome” or collection of symptoms. To define a disease requires that we know the cause of the symptoms. Thus, correctly stated, multiple sclerosis is not a disease, but rather a syndrome. The causes are not one, but many, making it difficult to find a single cause for all the symptoms that we call Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Because MS affects the nervous system it can have effects anywhere in the body on any function of the body. Some people have terrible pain, others get numbness. Some have weakness of certain muscles, while others have brain dysfunction and memory impairment. Commonly, people with classical MS get visual disturbances such as blindness or double vision.

  • Relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS)
  • Primary-progressive MS (PPMS)
  • Secondary-progressive MS (SPMS)
  • Progressive-relapsing MS

Each of these disease courses might be mild, moderate or severe.[1]

Neurological problems that resolve in a matter of days to months, but then recur in other areas characterize relapsing-remitting. Thus, for example, a person with RRMS may have weakness in the left leg for months which then resolves, and later get double vision, only later to get pain in the other leg. These MS patients usually go on to develop a progressive form.

Progressive MS is exactly as it sounds. The disabilities don’t resolve, but rather continue as new ones are added. This usually leads to paralysis, pain, and even mental dysfunction.

Multiple Sclerosis Causes

There seem to be multiple factors involved in the cause of the symptoms of MS. These may include:

  • Genetic – Generally, close family members have a higher risk of MS that may not be due to environmental factors. For instance, an identical twin of someone with MS has a 1 in 4 chance of developing MS. However, fraternal twins have about a 1 in 40 risk, the same as other family members. The general population has about a 1 in 1000 risk.
  • Autoimmune – The debate over MS as an autoimmune disease rages. There is definitely inflammation in the brain, but specific antibodies are hard to consistently find.
  • Nutrient deficiencies – The fact that MS attacks happen more in the winter may indicate a vitamin D deficiency, but no causal relationship has been shown. Vitamin D is also an important immune system activator and may prevent viral illnesses.
  • Infectious diseases – Viral antigens have been found in the spinal fluid of people with MS, but not consistently enough to assure a causal relationship.

Mainstream Medical Treatments for MS

There are several MS drugs on the market that are approved by the FDA for treatment of MS.

Disease-modifying drugs that have been shown to reduce exacerbations and slow the progression of MS include:

  • Avonex (interferon beta-1a)
  • Rebif (interferon beta-1a)
  • Betaseron and Extavia (interferon beta-1b)
  • Copaxone (glatiramer acetate)
  • Novantrone (mitoxantrone)
  • Tysabri (natalizumab)
  • Aubagio (teriflunomide)
  • Gilenya (fingolimod)
  • Lemtrada (alemtuzumab)
  • Plegridy (peginterferon beta-1a)
  • Tecfidera (dimethyl fumarate or DMF)
  • Ampyra (dalfampridine)[2]

These MS drugs clearly state that although they may decrease the number of relapses, they don’t cure the disease. Some people have good results from using them, but eventually progress with more MS complications anyway. Plus, many of the drugs have side-effects that are more harmful than the disease. I recommend people use drugs for symptomatic relief, if needed, while they are working on reversing the illness.

Alternative Medical Treatments for MS

I’m not going to discuss each alternative MS treatment here, because my purpose is to reverse the disease, and not to put a Band-Aid on it. The use of these protocols should be in consultation with a doctor who can prescribe it.

How to Overcome Multiple Sclerosis with Nutrition

A Diet to Fight MS

Multiple sclerosis is a thief. It slowly steals a person’s mobility, eyesight and ability to think clearly. It is an unrelenting disease that is progressive and deemed incurable. This devastating disease is diagnosed in thousands of Americans each year. These victims are often left with minimal options for help and little hope for recovery.

Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is a chronic autoimmune disease that occurs twice as often in women as in men. It is also more common among Caucasians than any other ethnic group. MS slowly deteriorates the protective myelin sheath that surrounds the nerves in our brain and spinal column. This leads to:

Once diagnosed, MS may steadily worsen. Or, acute attacks may occur followed by remission of MS symptoms. The protective myelin is damaged in multiple sclerosis due to its autoimmune destruction. The specific cause of MS is not known, but exposure to and accumulation of heavy metals and other toxic compounds can induce MS.

The good news is that there is hope for those diagnosed with MS! Dietary changes and proper nutrition can dramatically improve MS symptoms. In some cases, MS symptoms can be eliminated completely! The body has the innate capacity to heal itself when given what it needs.

When addressing MS, it is also important to stop habits that disrupt and damage the immune system. Don’t forget that your body is made from natural materials and incorporates a system that needs natural products such as food to constantly build and heal.

Many of our modern day foods contain artificial ingredients that aren’t safe for human consumption. Some of these ingredients alter the normal activity of your nervous system, resulting in disease. So, it is important to understand the dangers and side effects of these artificial additives.

The Dark Side of Diet Soda

Many people with good intentions forego sugar-laden sodas and desserts in favor of their sugar-free counterparts. However, artificial sweeteners have a dark side. Aspartame in particular, the primary sweetener used in diet soda, has a distinct connection to MS.[1][2]

ASPARTAME in diet soda kills brain cells and lead to MS v2Aspartame is composed of aspartic acid and phenylalanine. Aspartic acid raises the levels of both aspartate and glutamate in the blood. Once these compounds reach the brain, they can cause an influx of calcium into the brains cells. This influx excites the cells to the point of their death! This is why aspartate and glutamate are often referred to as excitotoxins. If you suffer from MS, these excitotoxins can freely enter the site of injury, magnifying the damage produced from MS.

Aspartame can also rapidly break down into methanol, which can easily crosses the blood-brain barrier. Once methanol reaches the brain, it converts to formaldehyde and begins to break down the protective myelin sheath that surrounds our brain cells. This demyelination can lead to MS symptoms and other diseases such as:

Several other processed foods are also high in methanol and should be avoided. Some of the most common include:

  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Smoked foods
  • Overly ripe fruits and vegetables
  • Tomato sauce

Always read labels and be on the look out for aspartame and other artificial ingredients. These chemical additives cannot only cause symptoms of MS, but other diseases and chronic health problems as well. The damage caused by chemical preservatives and sweeteners can be catastrophic to the human body. These man made ingredients trigger a chain reaction of unnatural responses in the body, which ultimately lead to disease. MS is one of many diseases that can result from putting unnatural substances into our natural bodies! None of us would think of drinking formaldehyde, wood alcohol or other toxic substances. And yet, when we consume diet sodas or other processed foods that contain toxic chemicals, it’s like drinking poison!

MS and Leaky Gut Syndrome

Though rarely talked about, there is an intimate connection between the intestinal tract and autoimmune disease. A disorder called Leaky Gut Syndrome can play a role in the occurrence of MS.

Leaky gut syndrome occurs when the intestinal tract becomes permeable due to inflammatory damage and destruction from the overgrowth of microbes and yeast. This permeability allows toxins and microbes that your body would normally eliminate, leak from the intestinal tract into the bloodstream! Once these toxic substances begin to circulate in your system, inflammation can occur in other areas of the body. This can lead to autoimmune reactions, like MS, where the body attacks itself. This self attack mode is set off by the presence of toxins that would not be present if the intestinal tract was not leaking.

A recent study found a connection with leaky gut syndrome and MS.[3] The study found that mice infected with an MS-like disease not only had leaky gut, but had intestinal inflammation before they even showed symptoms of MS! Dr. Terry Wahls, former MS victim and author of the Wahls Protocol stated, “More studies are finding that increased intestinal permeability or ‘leaky gut’ has a role in the development of multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune disorders.”

The good news is you can prevent leaky gut, as well as cure it! Following specific dietary recommendations can heal the digestive tract, and halt inflammation system-wide! This can actually resolve MS symptoms and help those with MS regain a normal, active life!

A Diet to Fight MS

Dr. Terry Wahls was diagnosed with MS in 2000. A medical doctor herself, she sought out the best care and took the latest and most effective drugs on the market. However, her attempts at managing her disease failed and her MS worsened in 2003. She then completed the recommended chemotherapy, but became bound to a wheelchair. Soon after chemotherapy, she became bedridden.

She started researching nutrients that would feed her brain and halt the progression of her disease. She noted that in MS there was shrinkage of the brain due to poorly functioning mitochondria. Mitochondria are our cell’s energy source. They need specific nutrients to function at optimal capacity. Through her research, Dr. Wahl identified 3 specific nutrients that are essential for mitochondrial function:

  • Omega 3 fatty acids (from fish)
  • Creatine
  • Coenzyme Q10

She then began to research the proper nutrients needed to prevent damage to the myelin sheath, the primary cause of MS. She discovered the following were important in the maintenance and proper function of myelin:

  • B1
  • B9
  • B12
  • Omega 3 fatty acids (from fish)
  • Iodine
  • Antioxidants

Dr. Wahl also went on to discover the nutrients essential for neurotransmitter functioning. Our neurotransmitters are chemical messengers, which send information between nerve cells. The two most important nutrients for our neurotransmitters are:

  • Sulfur
  • B6

Much of the typical American diet is totally lacking in nutrition. Instead of consuming nutrient dense food, most op for processed and fast foods that are void of nutrients, but rich in artificial based preservatives and additives. It’s really no wonder that our health is declining and obesity rates are skyrocketing.

Dr. Wahls recommends following a paleo style diet that is high in essential nutrition for mitochondria and myelin sheath function. This diet includes:

  • Unlimited green vegetables – these are high in B vitamins and minerals
  • Onions and garlic – rich in sulfur
  • Fatty fish – contains omega 3 fatty acids
  • Grass-fed meat – rich in creatine and healthy protein
  • Organ meat (liver, heart, etc.) – a source of CoQ10 and protein
  • Colorful fruits and vegetables – contain a plethora of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
  • Seaweed – a source of essential iodine

The Wahls protocol also recommends avoiding:

  • Starchy vegetables (corn and potatoes)
  • Grains (gluten in particular)
  • Dairy
  • All processed foods

Once Dr. Wahls began to follow this dietary protocol, her MS symptoms began to improve. Within a matter of months, she went from being bedridden to walking again! She is now symptom free and travels the globe spreading the good news of how proper diet can reverse MS!

Interestingly, this diet not only feeds the brain, but heals the gut as well! The principles outlined in the GAPS protocol, which is a diet designed to heal leaky gut syndrome, are nearly identical to the foods recommended in the Wahls protocol! A diet that addresses leaky gut syndrome is a powerful ally in the fight against any autoimmune disease.

Following these dietary recommendations allows you to heal the brain, but also heal your inflamed leaky gastrointestinal tract, the possible source of MS!! This will help end the source of inflammation and put an end to autoimmune reactions throughout the body.

In addition to the Wahls protocol diet, I recommend adding a powerful, multi-strain probiotic such as Renew Life’s Ultimate Flora. Supplementing with a probiotic helps balance the intestinal tract by boosting beneficial bacteria and crowding out damaging microbes.

A great rule of thumb when boosting nutrition is to add a lot of color to your daily meals. Colorful fruits and vegetables are full of antioxidants which are essential in the health and integrity of our nerve cells. The following recipe incorporates the Wahls protocol by including grass-fed protein, green vegetables, sulfur rich onions and other colorful veggies. This recipe is so tasty you won’t even notice that it is grain free![4]

Tex Mex Paleo Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  • tex mex paleo stir fry1 lb grass-fed ground beef
  • 2 red bell peppers, diced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2-4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 8 oz white or baby portabella mushrooms, diced
  • 2 limes
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper (optional for extra heat and flavor)
  • 1 bunch cilantro, finely chopped
  • 2 cups baby spinach, chopped
  • 1 cups baby kale, chopped
  • 2 tbs coconut oil
  • 12 grape tomatoes, diced

Instructions:

  1. Brown ground beef with salt and pepper and set aside.
  2. Next, sauté peppers, onions, mushrooms and garlic in coconut oil.
  3. Once these veggies are browned, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin and paprika.
  4. Place chopped spinach, kale and half the cilantro in a food processor with grape tomatoes and carefully process by pulsing on and off and stirring if necessary until finely chopped.
  5. Stir browned beef into the pepper mixture, and then stir in the greens and tomatoes until greens are slightly wilted.
  6. Add the juice of two limes freshly squeezed and add sea salt to taste. Garnish with the second half of the cilantro, finely chopped.

Green smoothies have become all the rage, and rightly so! What an easy and convenient way to condense lots of nutrition into a single easy-to-consume drink! The problem that most people run into, however, is making a green smoothie that tastes good. Many times people will try and hide the “grassy” taste of a green smoothie with high sugar fruit juices. The added sugar in fruit juices defeats the purpose and increases your risk of diabetes and weight gain.

This smoothie recipe not only incorporates healthy greens and vitamin rich fruits, but also has the addition of lemon flavored fish oil. Don’t worry…this oil doesn’t taste fishy! Rather, it gives the smoothie a slight lemony kick that is also packed with brain boosting omega 3 fatty acids!

Omega 3 Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • omega 3 green smoothie 1 1/2 cups coconut water
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tsp Carlson’s or Nordic Naturals lemon flavored fish oil
  • Juice of one small lemon
  • 1/2 apple (roughly chopped, seeds and core removed) OR 1 pear (roughly chopped, seeds removed)
  • 1/2 orange (peeled, roughly chopped)
  • 3 stalks of celery (roughly chopped)
  • 4 large kale leaves (ribs removed)
  • 6 romaine lettuce leaves

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to the blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Serve over ice.

Those of you who are battling MS, you don’t need to lose hope! This is a battle you can win with the proper dietary choices and nutrition.

  1. Begin by eliminating artificial additives and sweeteners, including diet soda.
  2. Then fill your diet with nutrient dense foods that nourish your brain cells and help to prevent any further deterioration.
  3. Also, add probiotics to your daily regimen to help promote a healthy gut and quell system wide inflammation.

  • Relapsing-remitting: This form comes and goes over time. Symptoms can be severe for a time but then disappear. About 85 percent of multiple sclerosis patients develop this form of MS.
  • Secondary-progressive: After the initial attack, symptoms do not subside and the disease worsens.
  • Primary-progressive: People who develop this form are typically older in age. They decline slowly, without many ups and downs.
  • Progressive relapsing: Symptoms progress slowly, but eventually worsen over time.

Multiple sclerosis is unpredictable. No one truly understands why one person’s MS manifests differently than someone else’s. The cause of MS is still unknown. However, many in alternative and integrative medicine believe that nutrition and many other environmental factors play a large role.

When treating MS, neurologists typically prescribe drugs that suppress the immune system. The hope in prescribing these anti-inflammatory drugs is that they will halt the autoimmune attack on the myelin and lessen MS symptoms. However, these drugs have terrible side effects and often do more harm than good.

Though the initial diagnosis of MS can be crushing, there is hope! Fortunately, there are many natural, safe and effective alternatives to the toxic treatment methods offered by conventional medicine.

Since 1989, the Energizer Bunny® has been beating his drum as a symbol of energy and power. While this now famous pink bunny “keeps going and going,” multiple sclerosis sufferers find their “batteries” getting low.

As you’ve read in this issue of Home Cures That Work, Dr. Scott Saunders refers to MS as “a disease of energy – or lack of it, that is. MS renders the mitochondria in the cells weak and unable to function properly sapping one’s strength and energy. We wonder in awe that something so miniscule could impact us so profoundly!

4 practices to increase your energy Unfortunately, there are other influences at work in our bodies that also deplete our energy and strength. Some of these dark influences include: discouragement, self-pity, depression, and anger. If you suffer from MS or some other chronic disease, it’s totally understandable that you might experience some of these negative emotions—who wouldn’t?

The problem is that negative attitudes and emotions lead to chronic stress that can severely impact our health. We now know that chronic stress often brought on by these negative feelings can lead to high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, digestive problems, infections, and cause us to age faster.[1] Especially for a person suffering with MS, this is the last thing you need!

This serves as another reminder that people are integrated, whole beings. What happens in any one facet of our lives profoundly impacts all other areas.

You Are the Boss

We often wrongly assume that we are just victims of our emotions. We are quick to blame our circumstances—or even God for our plight. As a result, we behave as though we can’t help feeling angry, bitter, resentment, or discouraged.

On the one hand, we need to cut ourselves some slack. We are only human after all. We are ultimately frail. From time to time we all feel down and disheartened . . . but we mustn’t live there.

On the other hand, you are not a victim, but the boss of your emotions. You are not at the mercy of the whims of your emotions. Don’t play the victim with your emotions and allow them to sap even more of your energy and strength! Instead, take control.

Let’s take a look at some positive things we can do tap into the power and energy we need, especially when trying to overcome a debilitating disease. We’ll look at some practices to avoid and others to pursue to prevent energy-sapping negativity in your life and bring energy to your life instead.

4 Practices to Avoid

  1. how you will respond to sufferingAvoid comparing your suffering with that of others. This only leads to further feelings of self-pity and other morose thoughts. Dr. Jerry Sitser lost his wife, his mother and his daughter all in the same car accident. In his grief, he wondered whether his pain was any greater than that of anyone else’s who loses a loved one. He concluded that such comparisons were futile.[2] You don’t want spend your valuable energy on things that will further drain your energy.
  2. Don’t push God and others away. Pushing God and others away in our suffering only increases our sorrow and gains us nothing. This behavior is counter-productive and further depletes our energies.
  3. Leave the question “Why?to God. Certainly it’s human to ask, “Why am I suffering so?” But this quickly degenerates to the demand, “What did I do to deserve this?” And more often than not, the answer is, “Neither you, nor God brought this disease upon yourself.” Much of life and what happens to us is a mystery. We often don’t know “why?” The real question is, “How will you respond in your suffering?”
  4. Resist the temptation to focus on yourself and your problems. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it’s not all about you (or me)! Focusing on oneself is very small behavior. Self-focus is energy-depleting behavior.

4 Practices to Increase Your Energy

1. Find strength in God.

For 13 years, David lived as a fugitive hunted by an evil king who wished him dead. Banished from his homeland, he returns from a journey only to find that enemy raiders have burned his home town and carried off his family and possessions and those of his 600 men. And if things couldn’t get worse, his men turn mob-like and speak of stoning him to death! How did David respond? “David found strength in the Lord his God.”[3]

The end result was David gaining back all that was stolen. The hopelessness that MS brings can be very overwhelming, leaving you in a state of grief and nothing to look forward to. Like David, you can take a step to find strength in God and gain back what MS has stolen from you.

2. Have fun with your friends.

One of the surest paths out of depression and sorrow is to spend time with people that are easy for you to be with. Enjoy their company. Laugh together. People who laugh with others generally feel good about themselves and life in general. There’s something energizing and relaxing about laughter. Watch a comedy together, play games, or exchange jokes. King Solomon knew what he was talking about when he wrote, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.[4]

3. Go back to what you know.

Often suffering becomes so distracting that we forget the basics on which we are grounded. What are the basics? Being grounded in what we know gives us strength and energy to continue.

  1. God loves you and cares for you more than you can possibly imagine.
  2. Your character (who you are becoming) is of far greater importance than what you’re suffering.
  3. Trust in God and He will take care of you. “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”[5]
  4. Be hopeful and pray for your healing. MS can go into remission, or as Dr. Saunders describes, you may be able to reverse it. Couple the diet that Dr. Saunders provides with prayer asking God to give you strength to follow through with it and see your MS reversed.

4. Spend time each day attending to your spiritual health.

Spiritual health doesn’t just happen. We need to take action to cultivate our spiritual health, just as we do our mental and physical health. Attend to your spiritual health by reading God’s Word, the Bible and taking time to talk with God in prayer. Fellowship with other followers of Christ. Listen to music and let its soothing energy wash over you. Once hesitant to do so, the medical community now clearly sees the connection between spiritual health and physical health. Studies demonstrate that spiritual health lowers depression, improves blood pressure, boosts the immune system, offers social support, and improves coping skills.[6]

So, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”[7] Now that’s energizing!

Finally, as you or someone you loves suffers with MS, some other chronic illness, or other great misfortune, let me encourage you with a prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed for the followers of Jesus in the ancient city of Ephesus:

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Do Adult Vaccines Protect From Illness?

There is nothing on Earth more controversial than vaccines. Ever since that historic day in May 1796 when Edward Jenner gave a young girl the first vaccine, the cowpox virus that prevented her from getting smallpox, entire populations have been polarized over the use of vaccines. Few have not taken sides. Some say vaccines are the cause of illnesses of all types: autism, neuropathy, asthma, and so forth. While others say they do no harm at all and only help prevent disease. The debate is even more heated when the government forces people to get vaccines they don’t want.

The use of vaccines to prevent illness got a slow start. Louis Pasteur was born about the time Edward Jenner died. It wasn’t until 1885 that Pasteur vaccinated a 9 year old boy bitten by a rabid dog with the first rabies vaccination. Since that time, many new vaccines have been developed to protect people from multiple illnesses.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently recommends 49 doses of 14 different vaccines before the age of six. This does not include other vaccinations that are available for travel to other countries.

At this time, the medical evidence should tilt the balance of the debate towards the government allowing parents and individuals to make their own decisions and those for their children.

The fact is there are risks to vaccinations. It’s important to be informed of these in order to make a decision. The big question on everybody’s lips is: “Which vaccines should I get, and when?”

It’s hard to know whom to trust when manufacturers use government to force vaccines on the entire population. Today, it seems that the public health establishment is obsessed with developing vaccines against every conceivable microorganism, and these government programs are bent to include everyone, every child, and every infant in the immunization loop.

Herd Immunity

In California, and now all over the United States, representatives of those who sell vaccines are talking about a concept called “herd immunity.” This is the theory that if a certain percentage of the population has vaccinations, then they won’t spread the illness, and the whole society is protected.

Literature from those who market vaccines to the public often state that if most of a population are immune to a disease, then it protects those who aren’t vaccinated. This causes peer-pressure to get vaccinated. As a result, schools, friends, and neighbors may not allow unvaccinated children around, believing that they could pass diseases. This theory, however, has been disproved. Russell Blaylock, MD, a neurosurgeon, explains the situation.[1]

“When I was in medical school, we were taught that all of the childhood vaccines lasted a lifetime. This thinking existed for over 70 years. It was not until relatively recently that it was discovered that most of these vaccines lost their effectiveness 2 to 10 years after being given. What this means is that at least half the population, that is the baby boomers, have had no vaccine-induced immunity against any of these diseases for which they had been vaccinated very early in life. In essence, at least 50% or more of the population was unprotected for decades.

If we listen to present-day wisdom, we are all at risk of resurgent massive epidemics should the vaccination rate fall below 95%. Yet, we have all lived for at least 30 to 40 years with 50% or less of the population having vaccine protection. That is, herd immunity has not existed in this country for many decades and no resurgent epidemics have occurred. Vaccine-induced herd immunity is a lie used to frighten doctors, public-health officials, other medical personnel, and the public into accepting vaccinations.”

Herd immunity is a myth that won’t go away because it is the only way to justify forced vaccination for an entire population.

Natural Vaccination

The creation of a vaccine may also induce the need for it. The chickenpox vaccine nicely illustrates the difference between natural immunity and vaccine immunity.

When I was a child, my friend Tony down the street got the chickenpox and my mom brought us over to play with him. We didn’t usually play at Tony’s house. I thought it was funny that other children of the neighborhood came over as well. It was like a party! That was the only time I went inside his house. Within a few days, I also had red spots, and itching. I remember crying because my mom told me not to scratch. Obviously, I wasn’t very obedient because I still have a scar on my face.

Immunity wanes over time, whether you get the chickenpox or you get the vaccine. However, when children get chickenpox, the adults around them get “vaccinated” by exposure, giving them a natural booster. These periodic “re-vaccinations” throughout life from children and grandchildren keep up the immunity of most of the population. So, a single childhood illness provides “lifetime immunity.”

Now, however, children are vaccinated against chickenpox. Thus, the adults around them don’t have any natural booster for their own immunity. As a result, the rate of shingles, a secondary type of chickenpox, has skyrocketed in recent years.

The vaccine manufacturer has conveniently created the need for a shingles vaccine, which is the exact same thing as the chickenpox vaccine, only 100 times stronger.

Achieving Herd Immunity

Early Illness Decline NOT with vaccinesThe ability for a vaccine to provide protection against an illness depends on how it stimulates the immune system to react. We look at antibody levels, but now know that most viral illnesses are intracellular – they infect inside the cells. So, viruses are controlled through the innate, or cellular immune system, including macrophages and NK (natural killer) cells. This is why antibodies may not be protective. Thus, a vaccine that stimulates the body to produce antibodies against a virus may not actually be effective at preventing disease.

Besides this, there are really several reasons for outbreaks of diseases in populations that have been “fully vaccinated” against them.

  • Many don’t respond to the vaccine
  • Antibodies decline rapidly in some
  • “Booster” vaccinations don’t always cause more antibodies

All these factors combined, approximately 50% of people are protected following a vaccine, depending on the illness. This explains why nobody has ever achieved the 95% threshold that is theoretically needed to achieve “herd immunity” that prevents outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.

Vaccine Effectiveness

There has always been a question of the effect vaccines have had on the rates of disease. We are told that vaccines have been the cause of a drop in rates of infections in the world population. Actually, there is probably a modest effect at best, as illustrated by the following graph, which gives us the big picture of multiple infectious diseases.

We can see that these common illnesses were declining throughout the early part of the 20th century, whether they had a vaccine or not. This is attributable to multiple factors including:

Adult Vaccine Risks vs. Benefits

Now, with all of this information, are you ready to make decisions on which vaccines to get, and when? Probably not. Does this mean that vaccines are not useful? Not at all!

In my office we have a travel clinic where we carry most vaccines, even ones that other doctors never see such as Japanese Encephalitis and Yellow Fever. Because of this, I need to know which vaccines are appropriate for each person and pass this information to inform my patients on which they desire.

Here I will provide you the significant risk of complications – and benefits if present – of each adult vaccine. You should have a choice in what substances are injected into your body – at any age. And, to be perfectly clear, it should be the government’s job to protect that choice – not take it away! Don’t let a physician push any immunization on you to comply with the CDC’s recommendation for adult vaccination before you know the risks! Here is what to expect.

Nearly 10 years ago I was pregnant with my first child. I was a supplement manager at a local health food store and finishing up my Naturopathy degree. My co-workers began to bombard me with questions whether I was going to vaccinate my baby. I was simply trying to get past the morning sickness and extreme fatigue. Vaccinations for my baby were the last thing on my mind.

Honestly, up until that point, I had not given much thought to vaccines in general. Vaccination was not the controversial subject then that it is today. Terms like anti-vaxxers and pro-vaxxers didn’t even exist yet!

But I had never personally looked into the negative effects of vaccination. Being a naturalist at heart, I knew that I would likely find the same side effects and dangers with vaccines that are so prevalent with pharmaceutical drugs.

As I was going over my baby girl’s birth plan provided by my doctor, I noticed that it included a Hepatitis B shot. Why would they give my newborn a shot for Hepatitis B? I realized at that point I couldn’t dodge the subject any longer. Thus began my journey into the controversial world of vaccination.

I began by searching out the answers to these 3 questions:

In this article, I will explain what I found in searching for answers. I believe knowledge is power and we should never rely on an organization or government to tell us what is best. You have the right to choose whether or not you or your child should receive particular vaccines. This is a fundamental health freedom issue that medical authorities using the force of government are trying to deny people all across the United States.

Even as I write this, bills are being proposed to take away this right to choose and force vaccination upon us all. In California, should the proposed bill SB 277 become law, every resident in the state from preschool to the age of 18 will be forced to be vaccinated with every mandated vaccine in order to reside in California and be eligible for any public or private school.

This would strip parents of their right to exempt their children from one, some, or all vaccines no matter their religious philosophical or ethical beliefs! This is an infringement on our freedoms and an outrageous step that could lead to thousands of vaccine induced injuries and even deaths.

Which brings me to the first question.

1. Are vaccines medicine or poison?

Vaccines are often deemed one of the greatest medical advances of all times. Millions of people now view vaccination as the savior from infectious deadly diseases. However, there is much more than meets the eye. Better nutrition, clean water and improved sanitation have profoundly contributed to the decline of many of the diseases that we now vaccinate against. Vaccines are definitely not the sole reason behind the decline of these diseases.

Few people stop and question what vaccines contain and their potential side-effects on the human body. How often does a parent ask to read the package insert for the vaccine their child is about to receive? Rarely, I would venture to say.

Sadly, we blindly trust the medical and pharmaceutical industry and we do not question their expertise or motives. Furthermore, the media strategically blacks out anything negative regarding vaccines.

It is time to ask more questions about what we are truly putting inside our children and our own bodies.

Furthermore, I believe medical professionals should be far more transparent with the ingredients and possible side effects before injecting a person with a cocktail of chemicals! Every year more than 25,000 vaccine reactions are reported to the US government. These reactions include severe injury and even death! It is also estimated that these reported reactions only account for 1-10% of the total actual reactions per year!

This means that literally millions of reactions to vaccinations have occurred over the last few years![1] As a result, the U.S. government has paid out more than $1.5 billion in its Vaccine Injury Compensation Program to families of children who have been injured or killed by vaccines.[2]

With all the uncertainty surrounding the safety and efficacy of vaccines, it’s critical to protect your right to make independent health choices and exercise voluntary informed consent to vaccination.

That being said, lets take a look at some of the typical ingredients found in vaccines and the possible negative consequences on the human body.

5 Vaccination Myths

Exercising Your Right Whether or Not to Vaccinate

Perhaps many reading this article are like me. We’ve grown up during the era of vaccinations and have never experienced any long-term negative complications from a vaccination. But now we’re hearing of a growing movement that is raising serious concerns about the health of vaccinating—especially vaccinating small children.

Why the sudden alarm about vaccinations? Aren’t vaccinations responsible for warding off massive outbreaks of diseases like polio, whooping cough, mumps, measles and rubella?

vaccine truth vs mythThe big question I’d like to focus on is whether individuals should have the right to choose whether or not to vaccinate themselves and their children. Do we have a moral obligation to vaccinate and be vaccinated? Does the government have the right to tell us who, how often, and against what diseases we must be vaccinated?

Let’s look at some of the major issues and then you decide.

Myth #1: Vaccinations Have Staved Off Massive Epidemics

Actually, although that is the widespread belief, it wasn’t the vaccines that brought about the dramatic reduction in these diseases, but improved hygiene, nutrition and sanitation. Polio, whooping cough, measles, mumps and rubella, for instance, were all in radical decline before the vaccinations were developed and administered.[1]

Many who adamantly support extensive immunization fear that non-vaccinated children will infect their children. This makes no sense logically or medically, since the purpose of a vaccine is to protect the individual and the spread of such communicable diseases.

In this regard, some refer to “herd immunity,” arguing that diseases simply can’t spread in a community where a high enough percentage of the population is vaccinated against them. But this is an old, unproven hypothesis that defies logic.[2]

Myth #2: Vaccinations Immunize a Person Against Disease

Everybody knows that by injecting weak or dead viruses, the body develops antibodies. But does this combat and protect you from the real virus? Actually, we now know that this only holds true temporarily—and, not always.

Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) has admitted that “Children under two years of age do not consistently develop immunity following vaccination.” In fact, vaccinating can actually compromise their immune system.[3]

In a recent 2012 whooping cough outbreak in California, doctors discovered that the majority of children who contracted whopping cough had been vaccinated against it!

  • In fact, 81% of the children with whooping cough had received the full series of “immunizations” against the disease.
  • Another 11% had received only part of the whooping cough regimen.
  • Only 8% had not received any whopping cough vaccinations.[4]

immunization herd immunity Here is a perfect example of how the “herd immunity” hypothesis failed. The team of doctors who studied this whooping cough outbreak theorizes that the effectiveness of the vaccine wears off after several years. The truly disturbing part of this is that the drug maker Glaxo Smith Kline had never performed long-term studies to determine the on-going effectiveness of the vaccine.[5]

A similar 2014 outbreak of the mumps in Ohio revealed the same outcome. Individual infected with mumps included a large population of those vaccinated. Among 28 cases of the mumps, all had been “immunized” against the mumps except for one person.[6] Understanding this, the late Dr. Robert Mendlesohn, MD, in his book, How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor, asserted, “vaccinated individuals are 14 times more likely to contract mumps than unvaccinated.”[7]

If you think you are safe with the flu shot, think again. Four Canadian studies released in 2009 demonstrated that a seasonal flu shot increases the probability that one will contract H1N1 flu by 250%![8]

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine for the 2014-15 flu season is 19%.[9] In spite of this pathetic performance, the CDC still insists, “Getting a flu vaccine each year is the best way to prevent the flu.”[10] The flu vaccine really does increase your risk for serious pandemic flu illness!

While the flu virus is primarily spread through coughing, sneezing, or touching items contaminated by an infected person, “it is also possible for vaccine strain influenza to be transmitted by persons who have recently received live attenuated influenza virus nasal vaccines.”[11] This holds true for seven days or more following administration of the vaccine.

In other words, it is possible to contract a disease from a person who has been infected with it through immunization. In fact, government pamphlets warn, “Children who have been vaccinated should avoid close contact with people with severely weakened immune systems for around two weeks after being vaccinated.” Vaccine experts also warn that children “May have to stay away from elderly relatives for a few days after vaccination.”[12] The takeaway: the unvaccinated can become infected from the vaccinated.

Another problem is that viruses are constantly mutating. Antibodies developed against one virus will not be effective at warding off its mutant cousins.[13] One wonders whether vaccinating actually assists in the mutation and development of superbugs. Bacterium and viruses may be turning into strains that can no longer be controlled.

So we find that immunizing can actually lead to greater chances of contracting the disease for which one is being inoculated.

The Spotty History of Vaccinations

Advancement and Evidence of Development

Small pox. The Plague. Polio. They all sound like ancient diseases—because they are, for the most part. However, what confuses people is what exactly eradicated them. Those who feel they have an answer to this fall into two different camps.

  1. Those that believe vaccines brought an end to these diseases.
  2. Those that feel advancements in society, such as sanitation, are to thank for controlling feared diseases.

This spotty history of vaccination takes you down a confusing road of advancements and evidence for both camps. But which do you believe?

Vaccine History

vaccinations in a sanitary worldThe first vaccine was given in 1796 by Edward Jenner, a doctor who lived in Berkeley, England: “Taking pus from a cowpox lesion on a milkmaid’s hand, Jenner inoculated an eight-year-old boy, James Phipps. Six weeks later Jenner variolated two sites on Phipps’s arm with smallpox, yet the boy was unaffected by this as well as subsequent exposures,” explains the authors of The History of Vaccines and Immunization (THVI).

Next came Louis Pasteur, a French chemist, who developed the rabies vaccine in 1885. While this was technically a rabies antitoxin to be taken post-infection, he was integral in defining the term we still use today for vaccine.

The current-day definition of vaccine is, “Suspension of live (usually attenuated) or inactivated microorganisms (e.g., bacteria or viruses) or fractions thereof administered to induce immunity and prevent infectious disease or its sequelae,” according to (THVI).

Between the years of 1890 and 1950, vaccine development was in full swing; during this time the Bacillis-Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination was invented, which is still in use today, according to Immune.org. The introduction of immunizations in these years also included the diphtheria vaccine and the first licensing of the pertussis vaccine (Vaccine Timeline).

The next major vaccination moment came in 1967, when the WHO publicized a major campaign against small pox. Within 10 years the disease was non-existent.

Fast forward to 2014 and there are “no known cases” of Polio in India, which was once considered the Polio Capital of the World, according to How Plumbing (Not Vaccines) Eradicated Disease. (HPED)

Societal Advancements

Opposition to vaccination has existed as long as vaccination itself. In the 1800s, those opposed to vaccinations cited issues with religion, efficacy, sanitation, politics and science.

Anti-vaccination positions and vaccination controversies are not limited to the past. Those against vaccinations not only disagree with the safety, science and politics. They believe it was not vaccinations that ended many of our world’s deadliest diseases.

What did? Advancements in sanitation.   There is no question that improved hygiene, sanitation and better living conditions helped to stop the transmission of many diseases. Diphtheria, measles and whopping cough declined due to better diet, living conditions, and sanitation. Vaccines played an insignificant role, if any, with eradicating these diseases.

2 Sanitation Case Studies

1.) During the 1800s in London, most people used pumps to get their drinking water. These pumps pulled water from the Thames River, which is where raw sewage and animal waste was often dumped.

During this time, cholera killed thousands of people, including 500 people in just 10 days in SOHO. However, Dr. John Snow determined that poor water sanitation was the cause of the outbreak. He traced it back to one contaminated pump. The pump was removed, and the epidemic quickly abated. He is now considered one of the pioneers of epidemiology and “father of public health.”

2.) In 1994, Rwandan refugee camps were constantly struggling with dysentery. Refugees had no access to bathrooms, and used common areas when they had to go. Heavy rains flooded the area, and within a day, 2,000 people were dead from the spread of disease. “Once U.S. and UN officials brought in purified water and encouraged people to use outhouses and latrines for defecation, the incidences of dysentery fell,” according to research by Organic Lifestyle Magazine.

Vaccinations in a Sanitary World

The question remains: What is really needed to stop and prevent disease?

A majority of the population adheres to the advice of Western medicine practitioners in regards to health care—these health professionals support the use of vaccines.

But it is simply unwise to blindly depend on information coming directly from vaccine makers’ PR departments, from health officials, agencies or foundations that are mired in conflicts of interest with the vaccine industry. The WHO, the governments of most developed countries, pharmacists, and doctors actually profit from promoting vaccines. What if, just what if, the same amount of money that has been spent on vaccines over the past decade had been spent on sanitation facilities, healthy, GMO-free food and clean water instead?

So the new question is…

Are government health agencies and vaccine manufacturers pushing vaccines because they’re keeping us from disease, or because they bring significant profits?

To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate?

Unfortunately, as is the case in most controversies, both the pro- and anti-vaccine movements provide valid claims, making it hard to decide what to believe. As such, it’s important to err on the side of caution.

Start by educating yourself with reliable vaccine information. Here are two sources to start your research:

  • Use this list, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to get an idea of the many vaccines required for children and adults. Note that it does not include the ingredients in every vaccine.
  • Use this list to check what can be found in the vaccines on the previous list.

Many who are against vaccines are simply against the amount given to children, at one time, at a very young age—49 doses of 14 vaccines before age 6, according to the National Vaccination Information Center.

Discuss this concern with a naturopath or holistic health practitioner for suggestions on how you can strike a balance between vaccinating and not vaccinating. If you believe that vaccinations cause autism or have other dangerous side effects, speak with them about alternatives.

Vaccines have a long and storied history, dotted with revolutions, discoveries and eradications. However, as with any complex story, there’s a catch—did vaccines really eliminate these diseases? Or, if in fact sanitation was responsible, why are we still using vaccines to keep our civilization healthy?

It’s up to you to find the right answer for you and your family. Seek out a naturopath you trust to discuss your options. Just because vaccines have a long history, doesn’t mean we have to believe they’re right for us now.

Solution Guide to Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

Robin had to move several times in the past two years because she is so sensitive. Her first house in Santa Barbara had a lot of new work done. There was an addition put on with new carpeting, which she found was leaching formaldehyde. So, she had to leave.

These can begin to have many adverse symptoms that slow or prevent normal functions of the body. People with MCS can be sensitive to anything, and it can change over time, trapping them in a modern, chemical world.

Medical Doctors and MCS

Mainstream medicine doesn’t recognize MCS as a real disease, having failed to agree on a case definition for the disease. This makes getting a diagnosis a battle. Many doctors consider it an emotional or psychological problem.

Studies have failed to recognize any consistency in symptoms, diagnosis, or treatment. A person with MCS may have reactions to a chemical at one time, and not another. Furthermore, different people respond differently to each type of chemical stimulus. Moreover, both the severity of the reaction and the types of sensitivities change over time.[1]

The problem with the way we do research is that by using groups of people we assume they are similar, when, in this case, none of them are. The factors responsible for MCS are numerous, including the function of multiple enzymes and detox pathways, as well as the burden of various toxins already in the body. All of this changes continuously, making quantification of sensitivity very difficult.

What is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity?

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is just what the name implies. People are sensitive to many things in their environment, food, or even their own waste. This is brought on by a broad array of everyday chemicals. Exposure levels far below those that seem to affect the rest of the population provoke the symptoms.

The experience of each person is constantly changing, due to the environment. These are better and worse over time, due to a wide range of toxins. MCS has been equated to other problems including:

  • Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sick building syndrome
  • Gulf war syndrome (GWS)

Symptoms of MCS may include:

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Joint pain
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Sleep problems
  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Food intolerances
  • Difficulty breathing

These and other symptoms may come on during exposure to certain substances, and they go away when avoiding problem chemicals and exposure.[2]

Causes of MCS

Of course, a multi-factorial illness will not have a single cause. There are many factors which lead to this problem, most of which may include:

  • Drugs
  • Adrenal fatigue
  • Poor digestion of food
  • Yeast overgrowth
  • Inadequate absorption of nutrients
  • Leaky gut syndrome
  • Hormone imbalances

MCS Diagnosis

While we can test for the problems above, none of the tests are diagnostic for MCS. People may test positive for Leaky Gut Syndrome, for example, but do not have MCS. Diagnosing MCS is purely clinical. It’s the patient who comes in with the diagnosis, having noticed that they are sensitive to many different things.

  • Some of these sensitivities may be perfectly natural, such as an actual deficiency in amino acids due to incomplete breakdown of proteins in the digestive system.
  • Others may be sensitive to toxic substances such as alcohol, dyes, or pesticides.
  • Still others are sensitive to smells. The actual molecule that stimulates the olfactory (smell) system isn’t big enough to create an immune reaction. However, even natural perfumes may create a debilitating reaction.

Since these sensitivities are not usually created by the immune system, they are not true allergies. This is why allergy testing is not useful. Moreover, the actual sensitivity may change over time. For all these reasons, we rely on the patient to notice environmental triggers of their symptoms.

The Shoe Factory

Karen had MCS for a couple of years as a result of her job in a shoe factory. After working there several months, she began to notice that when she went to work she got tired and achy. She would get fatigued. She began to have headaches and dizziness. Her eyes hurt, and she would get shortness of breath with only walking.

Since she was in her 30s and usually active, she wondered why this only happened at work. After a period of time, she found that when she just walked into the building she would immediately start feeling her symptoms. She thought she must be crazy, and maybe she was just stressed at work, but she liked her job, and was generally happy there.

After months of getting worse, she finally was unable to go to work, and decided to take a leave of absence so she went out on disability. It took about six months of treatment for her to feel normal again, but when she tried to go back, she got the same symptoms. She had to quit her job, and find another that allowed her to be away from the glues and offgassing of the shoe factory.

So, this begs the question about getting relief from MCS. Do people really have to move multiple times, avoid contact with others, leave their work, severely limit their diet, or live in a bubble all their lives? No.

Complete Relief from MCS Disease

We often hear some version of the following claim, “If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything,” or its positive expression, “If you have your health, you’ve got everything.” There is no question that our physical health is vitally important to our overall well-being!

For many, chemical sensitivities pose a real threat to their health—and probably for all of us, even more than we know.

it's not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heartBut I’d like to challenge the above claim, not to discredit it or diminish its importance, but to contrast it with a disease and sickness that threatens even more than health itself. In all reality, other physical diseases pale in comparison to the devastating effects of this disease.

The disease I’m referring to results each year in thousands of murders, tens of thousands of rapes, and hundreds of thousands of robberies in the US. But this sickness is not just confined to “criminals.” This disease manifests itself in child and spousal abuse, road rage, bigotry, outbursts of anger, and malicious lawsuits.

This illness destroys families, wrecks marriages, ruins relationships, alienates friends, and divides a nation. Its more subtle symptoms surface as arrogance, greed, cheating, lying, unforgiveness, ungratefulness, vulgarity, profanity, and lack of love, mercy, or self-control.

Not only is this disease horrible in its symptoms, manifestations, and outcomes, but it is terrible in its dominance. There is no portion of the population that has been spared from infection. Contamination is universal.

In fact, as humans, we’re genetically predisposed to this disease. There’s no avoiding it. We may each exhibit its symptoms in varying degrees, but we’re all capable and culpable. We are all infected. We all stand guilty.[1]

In contrast to harmful chemicals, viruses and bacteria that threaten our health from outside of us, Jesus Christ explained, “It’s not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.”[2] Obviously, I’m talking about the pervasive spiritual disease of sin.

But as is often the case with a diagnosis, one of the initial responses is denial. In the case of this spiritual disease, we express denial in many ways: “I’m not as bad as so-and-so.” Or, “Sin’s not a real disease.” Or, “I’m not a bad person.” Or, “Who says I have this disease?”

Sadly, it’s possible for a person to have their health, but not have much else. After all, what is physical health if we have no one to enjoy it with? What is freedom from illness, cancer, or MCS if our lives are still plagued by the awful effects of sin? Jesus asked, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”[3]

Perhaps we’ve all experienced the gut-wrenching torment of a broken relationship and the havoc it wreaks on us physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is sin-induced stress.

I’m not saying that all stress stems from sin, but often it does. Feelings of guilt, remorse, regret, anxiety, fear, anger, envy, jealousy, etc. are often prompted by sin in our lives or by that imposed on us by others. These emotions create stress in our lives and we know that stress aggravates MCS.[5] From this perspective, addressing sin in our lives may help relieve or prevent an MCS reaction.

In fact, until we resolve the issue of sin in our lives, we find ourselves in opposition to God. Our sin creates a rift in our relationship with him, so that we’re estranged from him. Depending on our spiritual sensitivities, we may or may not even be aware of this broken relationship—but it exists.[6]

Fortunately, God loves us too much to leave us guilt-ridden and helplessly “sick” in our sin. The passage below refers to Christ and what he has done for us to remedy our plight.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.[7]

This is why God sent his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died for our sins. He suffered to pay the penalty for our sins so that we might be reconciled to God.[8] Obviously, if it took the death of God’s Son to break the power of sin, then there’s nothing you or I can do to earn or merit this priceless gift. Instead, Christ offers us forgiveness from our sins and restored relationship with his Father if we put our trust in him.[9]

Trusting Christ for the forgiveness of sin may not heal your MCS, but it definitely can heal the much more deadly disease of sin. Also, in relationship with Christ, he offers love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.[10] These virtues transcend MCS in importance and may even provide some relief and prevention from its ill-effects.

My intent is not to belittle or diminish the suffering you might be experiencing from a physical ailment like MCS. But I encourage you to experience whole-person healing and health—not merely of your physical body, but emotionally and spiritually as well. Christ extends forgiveness of sin freely for all who call on him. Trust in Christ today and experience healing from sin and its ravages.

You’ll also discover that Jesus cares deeply about you and your physical and emotional suffering due to MCS. The comfort and encouragement he gives can give you stamina and tremendous relief.

I can say with conviction, “If you have Christ, you really do have everything.”[11]
